Nevsky Avenue and Gostiny Dvor

Located at the intersection of Nevsky Avenue and Sadovaya Street in St. Petersburg, Russia, Gostiny Dvor is the city’s oldest shopping center and one of the world’s first shopping arcades. Construction began in 1757 with Bartolomeo Rastrelli’s design, later completed with Jean-Baptiste Vallin de la Mothe’s Neoclassical style. Spanning 53,000 square meters, this vast complex houses over 100 stores. Popular until the 20th century, Gostiny Dvor was rebuilt after World War II into a modern shopping center, now considered one of Eastern Europe’s most stylish.
