Located at the southern end of Hualien’s Isozaki Beach Recreation Area, Dashibi Mountain (locally known as Gui’an Mountain) is a small mountain extending along the coastline. Its name comes from its turtle-back shape and nose-like geographical position jutting into the sea. Built by the East Coast National Scenic Area Administration, the 750-meter Dashishan Trail features stone and wooden steps designed for a comfortable hike. The trail, which can be completed in about an hour, is surrounded by rich vegetation, including pastoral grasses, spiny onions, seven-mile scent, and wild lilies. At the summit, hikers are greeted with 360-degree views of the Tai-11 highway, Isozaki Bay, and the Pacific Ocean. The trail includes scenic pavilions, restrooms, and parking areas for convenience.
