Western Wall - The Heart of Jerusalem

The Western Wall (Hebrew: Kotel) is the holiest site in Judaism. It is the remaining western wall of the Second Temple (516 BCE – 70 CE) and is located in the Old City of Jerusalem. Every year, millions of visitors come to pray, leave written prayers in the cracks, and experience its timeless spiritual atmosphere.

This EarthCam live stream shows the wide plaza in front of the Wall, worshippers in prayer, and the Dome of the Rock visible in the background. Activity peaks during Shabbat (Friday evening to Saturday) and holy days like Yom Kippur. The site is divided into men’s and women’s sections; men wear a kippah (skullcap), and modest dress is required (shoulders and knees covered).

It receives over 10 million visitors annually. Prayer notes left in the cracks are collected twice a year and buried in the Mount of Olives Cemetery.
